I run a mission station in SA and a GAP year program. I am “obsessed” with my large Freeze dryer, we call her Chilly. I’m freeze drying everything possible 😊 We run our GAP program from February and we do Farming Gods Way too. So we harvest continually and freeze dry all our produce. We have zero wastage! Even all the peels are used to make compost and teas for our vegetable gardens (we FD them, and then powder them to make the compost teas). The water from boiling proteins or vegetables are also freeze dried to blend up for powdered stock. Slightly bruised fruit is also liquidised after FD to make powders for smoothies, desserts etc. Even herbs, once FD retain every drop of flavour and goodness. I also make sweets and breakfast bars for the road trips. Every meal we prepare, we prepare extra to freeze dry left overs. We frequently go on cross border mission trips and outreaches in SA. We have experienced times when we would run out of food and not be able to purchase anything in the rural areas. So we travel with a small gas bottle and a pot, heat up water on the side of the road and eat to our hearts content! We don’t have to travel with copious amounts of utensils, food, vegetables and perishables. If we go on a trip for a few weeks, we don’t have to stress about protein going off. The freeze dried food is also very light as there is no water content, so there’s no extra weight and more room for our bags etc. When our students arrive we have built up a large amount of stock of already cooked vegetables and meals. So if we have a hectic day out, we know we don’t have to cook when we get home late – this also saves tremendously on take outs on the road. The peace of mind is incredible! My machine runs 24/7 to increase our pantry. Even though this food can last up to 25 years, ours gets used up quickly. We even buy in bulk and make our own dog food, which is awesome as I have peace of mind knowing exactly what ingredients went into their food! I also suggest you join a few of the Facebook groups of other freeze dryers – their experiences and advise will help prevent any disasters and also encourage you to experiment and enjoy your FD! NEEDS: You do need a reliable electricity source, but if the electricity runs out, we just pop our trays back into the deep freeze and restart the next day. You need to filter and change the oil when the machine tells you and clean out the motor every few months, depending on how much you use her. The mylar bags are expensive, but we double seal ours right at the top, so we can cut off the seal, use the food and clean the bag thoroughly and use again – especially if the contents will be used soon. Console Glass sealable jars are brilliant. Order in bulk from Consol Glass as they are up 4 times the price in shops, depending on the area. You will also need a sealer for the glass containers. Naturalwise conveniently supply a heat sealer for the mylar bags on purchasing a new machine from them. You will also receive some trays on purchase, but I would definitely advise getting another set of trays, then you can always have a load ready in the deep freeze to load up immediately without waiting for the next load to freeze. You will never regret this expense as it lands up being an investment and a huge asset in mission work. The large suits our needs and demands, at times I wish we had another one, but we in a routine now and have caught up with our stock to freeze dry. As you can see, I am very passionate about my new hobby, as it works so well for what we do and our family - Lynne Lopez, JHB, South Africa

We are loving the machine!
We are loving the machine! We have started with making candy and our first market we sold out before the end of the market😁 We also did brownie and flapjack batter which we reconstituted and baked successfully. We still need to test our sourdough starter and onion ring batter. The fruit powders are also a hit. We did strawberry, blueberry, orange and lemon so far. So all in all, very happy with the machine. - Flame and Flavour (Pty) Ltd

Harvestright right freeze dryer
Freeze dried food is the pinnacle of preparedness, and having your own freeze dryer tops even that, especially if you grow your own food, like us. The Harvest right freeze dryer is arguably the best home use freeze dryer out there. Once you receive it you will realize why it costs so much. Keep in mind that you need to make sure your inverter can handle the extra load, otherwise you will not have success.

Thank You for your help and kindess
Hello Cheryl. I just wanted to let you know that my freeze dryer arrived safe and sound on Saturday afternoon. I am very excited to see what is inside, but I am building at the moment, so I will only look after the completion of the work. Thank you for your help and kindness throughout the buying and shipping. I will let you know, once I start using it. Blessings and friendly regards.

What a gem.
I am so delighted with my freeze dryer. Ive wanted one for a while, and now with food prices going up, its the perfect way to preserve and store food. Since Ive had mine, it's bearly been silent. I must say dealing with naturalwise has been an absolute pleasure.

Freeze drying food has saved us money!
"It is wonderful to freeze dry food that we have prepared. Drying the food ourselves is significantly less expensive than what we would have to pay to buy such food elsewhere. We are in control of the ingredients and are able to prepare long-term food storage that meets our needs". - Michelle and Tyler Source: Harvest Right

Preserving food for times of lean and times of plentiful
"I am very excited about using this as another way to preserve food, as I feel an urgency to prepare for times when food might not be as plentiful". - Kirsten. Source: Harvest Right.
